In 2018 Russ founded Primer, an AR platform for interior design that made it easy to instantly preview paint colors, tile, and wallpaper from sought after brands. The Primer team was acquired by Shopify in 2021 and Russ now leads product efforts in AR/VR there, exploring how spatial computing will transform commerce over the next decade. Prior to Shopify and Primer, Russ spent six years at Facebook, leading design for search, profile, groups, and speech/translation technologies. He lives in Berkeley, California with his wife and three kiddos.
