Gregory Panos began championing immersive technologies in the early 1980s, bringing a rare blend of engineering, education, and creative storytelling to the emerging fields of virtual and augmented reality.
As the author of the “Virtual Reality Sourcebook” and founder of the Persona Foundation, Panos helped define XR’s intellectual and commercial foundations while advancing human simulation through performance animation and 3D avatar creation. At Rockwell, he helped visualize early space station concepts using real-time VR systems, later contributing to The Lawnmower Man as a key pre-production consultant.
Through his work in virtual immortality and digital personas, Panos has pushed XR toward more human-centric and emotionally resonant applications, influencing generations of creators across academia, industry, and entertainment.
