Nova Southeastern University- Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM)Grant Funded by:American Association of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). Join Elizabeth (Liz) Oviawe, Ph.D. Ed.S. M.S.B.I, M.M.I.S, M.Sc.for the introduction of an AI driven immersive clinical case-scenario product in the training of health professions students. Human-patient simulators, such as high-fidelity manikins, fostered the immersion of the learner into a scenario developed within a physical space, yet the instructional applications to effectively teach students interprofessional team-based skills is limited as evidence-based instructional module for the systematic learning and training of health professionals is lacking according to the literature. Immersive Learning Environment (ILE) and the Multi-User Virtual Environment (MUVE) characteristics of 3D gamed-based and virtual world learning leveraging augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) have shown promise in the design of medical education clinical skill training. Use of these technologies support new pedagogical methods that could address the deficiencies in medical education clinical skill training serving as a medium between the theoretical and the clinical environment. The AI driven case-scenario serves to engage the health professions students in an immersive experience that enables them to practice interprofessional competencies and patient-centered care in a risk-free environment and then apply skills acquired to a real-life scenario. Participants at the AWE USA 2021 conference would get to experience the product and provide their feedback that would be used to further fine-tune the development of this AI driven advanced 3D Immersive Simulation-based application for Enhanced Interprofessional Core Competency, Patient-Centered Care and Safety.
