Maria Gorlatova
Assistant Professor Duke University

Dr. Maria Gorlatova is a Nortel Networks Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. Dr. Gorlatova’s research enables next-generation Internet of Things (IoT) and augmented reality deployments. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. Prior to joining Duke, she was an Associate Director of the Princeton University EDGE Lab. Dr. Gorlatova has extensive industry experience in R&D and business-oriented roles, and has previously been affiliated with Telcordia Technologies, IBM, and D. E. Shaw Research. Dr. Gorlatova is a recipient of multiple awards including the ACM SenSys Best Student Demonstration Award, the ACM/IEEE IPSN Best Research Artifact Award, and the IEEE Communications Society Award for Advances in Communications. In 2019 she has been recognized as a Rising Star in Networking and Communications by the N^2 Women organization. Her 2021 NSF CAREER Award builds the foundations for IoT-supported mobile augmented reality.
