Description

In the realm of interactive VR narratives, audio design is not merely a tool for enhancing immersion—it is a powerful medium for guiding the emotional journey of the audience. Unlike traditional storytelling, VR offers a first-person perspective, creating an intimate auditory experience that deeply connects with the user. In this talk, I will share my approach to audio design in the interactive VR experience, The Price of Freedom. This project has been recognized and showcased at prominent events such as GDC, VRLA, Sundance Film Festival, and Vision Summit. I will delve into the techniques used to create immersive soundscapes, the process of composing both linear and interactive music cues, and how music can be strategically employed to define a character’s identity and embed subtle "hidden messages" to enhance the player's experience. Additionally, I will discuss the integration of audio middleware like Wwise with game engines, illustrating how these tools can be used to elevate the overall impact of a VR narrative.
