With over 20 years of experience in broadcast graphics systems, Thomas has contributed to on-air solutions around the world spanning real-time data-driven graphics, augmented reality visuals, custom software & render engine development for elections, live sports, in-stadium, and more.
In 2024, Thomas and team Girraphic helped bring real-time augmented reality broadcast graphics to an unprecedented number of viewers – including an estimated AMA of 108 million live viewers globally for the Paul vs Tyson fight on Netflix, an unduplicated audience of nearly 65M US viewers (according to Nielsen) for NFL Christmas Gameday also on Netflix, and weekly viewership of 10-20M for Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime.
Prior to joining Girraphic, he was a part of Solotech’s Media & Entertainment Technologies division, working with its XR Studios team to explore innovations in virtual production, AR wearables, and fan engagement technologies for live events.
Thomas also spent 10 years as CTO for broadcast creative services provider Astucemedia, leading its software development and tech-lab teams, building plugins for graphics engines such as Vizrt, Unreal and Unity and deploying data-driven augmented reality & studio graphics for national broadcasters such as ABC News, Fox Sports, Al Jazeera, and more. He has also held roles at Miranda (Grass Valley) and Matrox.
