Welcome to a special (headset-heavy) post-CES edition of the Weekly Spatial by AWE! In addition to keeping you up-to-date on the biggest news, funding activity and announcements in immersive tech, here are three stories that caught our eye last week:
Highlights
AR and VR made a big splash at CES, and I'm not talking about Charmin's portable toilet fitted with a VR headset. Brands showed off AR/VR experiences, and devices like the Nreal Light, VRgineers' 8K VR headset, and bHaptics' line of wearable haptic accessories stole the show.
Meanwhile, major automakers revealed intriguing AR/VR concepts and display technologies, including an AR windshield with gaze detection (BMW) and Audi's AI:ME car complete with VR goggles to relax the passengers.
Finally, Sony announced it has sold 5 million PSVR headsets to date, while Qualcomm said its Snapdragon chips are now in more than 30 XR headsets.
