Maya Georgieva is a futurist, immersive storytelling expert, and frontier technology strategist with over 20 years of experience. Her work pioneers the intersection of immersive storytelling, speculative design, future casting, and cutting-edge technologies such as XR (Extended Reality), AI, and quantum computing, positioning herself at the forefront of innovation in both academia and industry.  Maya was named to the Blooloop 50 Immersive Influencer List in 2024!

As the founding Senior Director of the Innovation Center and the XR, AI, and Quantum Labs at Parsons School of Design and The New School, Maya spearheads initiatives exploring frontier technologies to shape the future of learning, creativity, and society. Leading a multidisciplinary team, she drives innovation in spatial computing, generative AI, quantum computing, future narratives, and speculative design, setting the stage for robust prototyping of digital experiential and lifestyles concepts yet to come.

Maya teaches the signature Immersive Storytelling course at Parsons, engaging over 100 emerging artists in exploring creative applications of AI, XR, and frontier technologies. Projects incubated in her classes have been exhibited at national and international festivals. Maya's collaborative projects push the envelope of what's possible with technology. Notably, "The Talk: Speculative Conversations with Everyday Objects," an interactive installation and paper presented at SIGGRAPH 2023 in collaboration with Sony Visiting Scholar Keijiro Nagano, combined augmented reality and generative AI to redefine human-object interactions. In 2023, Maya curated the first-ever Quantum Art Exhibition, ‘Creative Expressions of the Infamously Counterintuitive‘ sponsored by IBM Quantum at the Microscope Gallery in Chelsea, New York City. 

Maya is a sought-after speaker and has spoken at events such as SXSW, UNESCO, The Milken Institute Global Agenda, and conferences across the world. Maya has spoken at United Nations, UNESCO and the European Commission forums on the ethics of XR and AI. She frequently addresses topics on the metaverse, speculative design, and digital transformation, and consults with organizations and startups pushing the boundaries of technology and creativity.
