Suzanne Borders

Suzanne  studied psychology at University of Missouri, Kansas City and previously worked as Lead UX/Product Designer or Director of UX Design for over 9 years, prior to founding BadVR. She specializes in designing data analytic interfaces and remains passionately dedicated to democratizing access to technology through designing universally accessible products. Prior to BadVR, Suzanne led UX/UI design team at Remine (raised $48M) and CREXi (raised $54M), and developed new design standards for 2D geospatial visualization. Additionally, she led the launch of multiple revenue-generating products for both organizations. In 2019, Suzanne founded BadVR and was awarded a “Rising Stars” innovation award from IEEE.

As shared to TechCrunch, she’s raised over $4M in non-dilutive funding for BadVR, via grants from the National Science Foundation, NOAA, Magic Leap, and many more. Suzanne has grown the company from 2 to 25 people and was awarded 4 patents for innovations she created while leading the BadVR team.Over the past 5 years, Suzanne has been a thought-leader in the immersive data visualization and analytics space, being keynote speaker at over 25 national and international conferences. She's spoken on a variety topics such as “Using Augmented Reality (AR) To See The RF Spectrum: For EW, TSCM, and other Defense Applications”, to giving tutorial presentations at ITSEC: “Evolution of RF Signal Visualization - From Spectrum Analyzers to Augmented Reality”, to speaking at the MediaTech Hub conference in Berlin: “Using XR To Discover The Future of Data”, to, finally, most recently, her keynote talk in Milan “The Evolution of Data Visualization: From Dashboards to Augmented Reality.”

In her spare time, Suzanne travels for inspiration (80 countries and counting) and is proud to be a published author (of both technical and creative works) and former punk. Suzanne thrives at the intersection of product design, immersive technology, and data; she’s a believer in the artistry of technology and the technicality of art.
