David Neumann
Professor - Emerging Technologies
Humber Polytechnic

David Neumann is an award-winning creative with a long and diverse career spanning both academia and industry. With a passion for sparking curiosity, building confidence, and expanding agency, he has led groundbreaking projects that redefine how people interact with technology and creativity.

Their journey began in advertising, working as a creative technologist in both Canada and Germany, where he explored the evolving relationship between media, storytelling, and emerging technologies. This foundation led them to academia, where they have continued to push boundaries at the intersection of creativity and technology, shaping the next generation of innovators.

From leading bakers in Canada and New Zealand to collaboratively design cakes in VR to running a small but forward-thinking innovation lab at TVO, David thrives at the crossroads of experimentation and impact. His work has helped launch one of Ontario’s most innovative post-graduate programs, Humber's Creative Technology Post-Gradute Certificate Program, where students explore how technology is reshaping industries, culture, and human experiences.

His passion for blending creativity and technology extends globally. He has co-led a unique circus and technology summer camp for kids in Barbados, empowering young minds to explore digital storytelling in new ways. He has also contributed to socially impactful projects, such as currently leading the transformation of a shipping container in Bondo, Kenya, into a daycare and breastfeeding space using emerging technology.

Whether in the classroom, the lab, or the field,  David remains dedicated to exploring how media and technology can amplify human stories and unlock new possibilities.
