In this joint talk with Epic Games and German mixed-reality studio NSYNK, we showcase enterprise AR apps, using VisionLib’s Model Tracking in Unreal Engine for best-in-class XR experiences. VisionLib for Unreal makes a good fit and opens new opportunities for the XR developer community and enterprises, as it expands the choice of providers of 3D real-time engines for XR experiences.
We’re giving exclusive insights on the Porsche Taycan AR Event App, the first broadcast-quality AR app for journalists. Launched in early 2021, it brought the visual quality and precision otherwise only known from broadcast solutions to a mobile phone – for content creators to explore the technical features of Taycan augmented directly on the vehicle and, at the same time, to produce high-quality media content for reporting. The project has received a lot of attention on social networks and in the media.
VisionLib was one of the first SDKs, who made model tracking available to AR developers early. It has become a de-facto standard tracking technique. For good reasons: it's the only technique for enterprise-grade marker-less object tracking, is reliably precise, can handle object movement and remains working under changing or even adverse light conditions.
When it comes to uncompromised results, Unreal Engine is the state-of-the-art real-time engine and editor with photorealistic rendering, lifelike animation and much more – on an open, extensible platform that won't tie developers down.

The Virtual Reality (VR) market could surpass $ 40 Billion by 2020. The U.S. Military recently closed a deal worth $ 480 Million for the Microsoft HoloLens Mixed Reality (MR) device. Oculus has already released the first immersive VR system that is mobile with no wires and no need for a high-end gaming PC for $399. While these are exciting times, an important question needs to be investigated: Are we ensuring the security and privacy of these systems? In this talk I will present various experiments and findings we conducted in our lab related to the security and forensics of consumer grade immersive VR systems. I will show you how we are able to move people in physical spaces without their knowledge or consent, as well as other attacks that we coined and implemented related to immersive VR. Furthermore, we will also explore the forensic artifacts these systems produce.

In numerous fictional contemporary movies and television productions, the evaluation of crime scenes has been depicted with varying degrees of sophistication. C.S.I. introduced, not only new technology, but established new ways for law enforcement and juries to interpret physical evidence. Not every innovation has had a positive impact on the investigatory process. The Minority Report added the predictive twist and the dangers for abuse that foresight can bring. The underlying technology, however, successfully inspired many tools being used by law enforcement today, including crime predicting software. The scope of this presentation is to highlight the ability of immersive technology, both augmented and virtual, to have a beneficial effect on all aspects of criminological inquiry.

The pandemic disrupted prospective students and their families from the college campus visit, one of the most impactful experiences for those students and their families. A meaningful visit experience helps students imagine their lives at a university setting and sets the stage for students’ long-term success. Yet what happens when in-person visits and tours with guides can’t happen?
Close to 70k people visit the University of Texas at Austin every year, consisting largely of prospective students and their family and friends. In early 2020, the University of Texas at Austin opened their new Welcome Center, yet no one came because we were all at home. In partnership with The Texas Immersive Institute, UT Admissions wanted to better connect with digital first families. With the use of 8th Wall WebAR, Texas Immersive faculty and students reimagined the prospective UT Austin Longhorn experience. This panel will offer insights into the project's experience from the personalized AR Mailer sent to the home, to extending the on-campus tour with a location-based AR game, and an opportunity to capture the memory with an AR photo booth at the Welcome Center.

As we race into this emerging market we all know the finish line.
The finish line is when AR Smart Glasses are comparable to normal glasses in respect of size, weight and esthetics.
But its early days yet. This presentation will review the existing landscape in terms of market segmentation.
From there we will review the application criteria and technical tradeoffs in respect to the users visual experience.
Using these building blocks we explore LED & LASER technologies & how the can enable in the transition from normal to smart glasses.

Many developers of AR devices use Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE) on their waveguides to guide the tranmission of an image from the projector to the viewer's eye. Production of such diffractive structures in high volumes presents many challenges in terms of resolution, accuracy, fidelity, yield and cost. Eulitha's breakthrough PHABLE technology brings the proven advantages of photolithography to the AR/VR field, enabling highest quality waveguide production at low cost.

With the Metaverse we’re moving from an Internet we look at to a spatial Internet that surrounds us. Companies approaching this new reality face incredible challenges: how can we design experiences that are user centric in a three dimensional space? How can we adapt successful formula from the 2D world without losing the added benefits from immersive worlds?
How can team work and share their early vision with clients or leadership?
One of the reasons why most of today’s XR UIs feel and look like pure 2D is very similar to the early days of the Internet. Right now XR is at a stage where the web was three decades ago: unespiring, complicated to get in and overall “risky”. The tools used nowadays to ideate and design this new metaverse were not made for this purpose, slowing down the adoption of this new media: companies are struggling to pitch their strategy and vision, teams are not getting funded and blockbuster games are very rare .
We do believe that within 2-3 years, metaverse will evolve in shape and form from what we have right now and we need fast, accessible and collaborative tools to ideate, communicate and iterate.

A few years ago, a client told us we had a year to become ISO27001 compliant to continue working with them. As a small creative agency with a one-man I.T. department, we had no clue what ISO certification was, let alone how to achieve it. What followed was a journey to the center of the cybersecurity sun that culminated in an entire overhaul of not only our security but project management policies and procedures. ISO27001, GDPR, SOC, Privacy Shield, MPA Content Security, and this list goes on and on. More and more, enterprise clients are asking for these certifications from their suppliers and vendors. In this presentation, I take you through what these different certifications mean to you and why they matter, how to start your cybersecurity journey, and how your team can keep creativity and innovation moving when it seems security protocols only want to slow you down. No I.T. or security experience required.
